The family law firm of Kaufman, Ries & Elgin, P.A. represents clients in all aspects of divorce and family law, including the negotiation of marital settlement and prenuptial agreements.
The firm’s partners, Tom Ries and Susan Elgin, appear on the Maryland Super Lawyers® list. Tom is ranked among the Top 50 Lawyers in Maryland, and Susan is recognized in the Top 25 Women Lawyers. They are both Fellows of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), and formerly chaired the Maryland State Bar’s Family Law Section.
A past president of the Maryland chapter of the AAML, Tom currently serves on the national Board of Governors and co-chairs the Academy’s prestigious annual training institute for associate attorneys in Chicago. He is also co-author of Maryland Family Law.
Susan is the vice president of the Maryland chapter of the AAML. Susan received The Machen Award from the Maryland Legal Services Corporation and was recognized as a Leader in the Law in honor of her professional service. She is a member of The Daily Record’s Circle of Excellence for being one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women for three years. Susan serves on the Maryland Commission for Women.
